Our jolly favorite Christmas tunes from the last Nordstrom pianist in Texas

“I could play Christmas tunes for three hours without doing the same song twice,” says Larry Petty, the last Nordstrom pianist in Texas. In October, after 17 years of tickling the ivories for shoppers, Petty was forced to shut the lid on the NorthPark Center store’s Steinway for the last time, as Nordstrom terminated its famous live piano music program there. Thankfully, Petty is sharing the cheer this season, both at private parties and on the Grammy-nominated holiday CD that features his wife, vocalist Linda Petty, Looking Back at Santa: Christmas Memories With Linda and Larry Petty, $15 at lindapetty.com. Below, our jolly favorites directly from Looking Back. The album does include “Hard Candy Christmas,” but we’re skipping that one in favor of some more joyful noise. You go, merry Larry!
