Yesterday, at the fall 2013 Chanel couture runway show at the Grand Palais in Paris, the grand finale went to model and Irving native Erin Wasson. There she was, our hometown girl, closing out the show in a frothy white Chanel number and flexing her tattooed muscles — literally — alongside designer Karl Lagerfeld.
This is just speculation, but Wasson’s Chanel appearance has me wondering: Did Lagerfeld’s decision to have the Texan close the show have anything to do with the fact that he said he would bring Chanel’s pre-fall 2014 Métiers d’Art show to Dallas this year? (If he does, by the way, the show would take place in December, the standard month for those pre-fall presentations.) I would like to think that selecting Wasson was perhaps Lagerfeld’s sly little way of hinting at Texas things to come. If there’s anyone who can teach Lagerfeld a thing or two about Lone Star ways — and represent Dallas in the most fashionable light — it’s the ultra-cool Wasson herself.
