News about the two men FD editor-in-chief Rob Brinkley profiled in our February 2014 issue: Jason Hanna, one of the fathers in the story, posted this on his Facebook wall: “As we leave the 322nd Courtroom in Ft Worth (AKA the Family Court) and being denied our parental rights to our two boys we petitioned the court for, I am angered, frustrated, and outraged our system doesn’t recognize us as a family.” Read our original story (including why the denied cross-adoption was important to the couple), here.
Update on June 13: Hanna and Riggs were interviewed by Fox 4 about the adoption battle. “Ultimately, we’re talking about what’s better: one parent or two parents?” Riggs told reporter James Rose. “For me, it’s two parents. It’s a no brainer!”
